Your account
Deleting your account
You can delete your account from inside the app, in four taps, without asking anyone. This page says exactly what that does.
How to do it
- Open Find Me Matcha and go to You → Settings.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account. This opens a screen; it does not delete anything yet.
- Read what goes and what stays, then turn on the switch that says “I understand my reviews stay, without my name on them.” The button below stays inert until you do.
- Tap Delete my account. You are signed out straight away.
You have seven days to change your mind. Sign back in with the same account inside that window and everything comes back — your profile, your photos, your lists, your follows. The app does not announce it; you are simply back where you were. After seven days it is erased for good and we cannot restore it.
What happens immediately
- You are signed out on the device you did it from.
- Your profile stops opening, and you disappear from the people directory.
- Your reviews and photos stop showing your name.
What happens after seven days
A scheduled job runs each night and erases everything below. It is permanent, and there is no way to undo it.
What is deleted
- Your handle, display name and bio
- Your email address and your sign-in
- Your date of birth
- Every photo you have posted, including the image files themselves
- Your lists, the cafés you saved, and who you follow
- Your likes, your comments, and your notifications
- Your notification and app preferences
What stays
Your reviews, and the café facts you confirmed. They stop being yours: your name, your handle and every link back to you are removed, and the app shows the author as “Someone who left”. The connection between you and them is not kept anywhere, so it cannot be undone or looked up afterwards.
They stay because other people are relying on them. What a café is like, in this app, is built out of what people reported — and taking one person’s reports out changes what the app says about real places.
One consequence worth knowing before you decide: a review that stays loses its photos, because your photos are deleted with the rest of your account. The words and the rating survive; the pictures do not.
If you want a copy first
There is no export button in the app yet. If you want a copy of what we hold before you delete, email support@matcha.smedje.com from the address on your account and ask for it. We will answer within a month, as the GDPR requires. Do this before you delete, not after.
If you cannot get into the app
Deleting from inside the app is the fastest route and the only one that is instant. If you cannot sign in — a lost phone, an email address you no longer have — write to support@matcha.smedje.com from the address on your account, or tell us the handle, and we will delete it for you. Deleting the app from your phone on its own does not delete your account.
